Describe your project :
Our project, "STEM Reach," aims to provide equitable access to STEM education for young women and girls in underserved rural communities in southwest region of Cameroon. For close to 2 years, Data Girl Tech has thrived in semi-urban communities, training and mentoring young female techies and helping them land jobs and paid internships. Now we are taking this model to impact rural communities. Through this initiative, we aim to bridge the glaring gap in STEM education by providing free and accessible resources, workshops, and mentorship programs to young women in the southwest region. Based on the success of our training model in the past years and the increase in demand for our training in other communities this is a great opportunity to impact more communities. Our strategy will be to deploy mobile STEM labs to deliver hands-on experiences, customized curriculums, mentorship, and community-driven events. Our goal is to empower 18-35-year-old women to pursue STEM careers, addressing systemic barriers and cultural norms. Through collaboration with local leaders, we'll customize curriculums and organize community-driven events to ignite interest in STEM especially in communities highly affected by the socio-political crises in this region. Ultimately, we aim to impact 200 girls directly and raise awareness among 1000 participants, leverage the POESAM Fund to break barriers, empower the underserved, and foster diversity and inclusion in STEM.
