Describe your project :
According to Alemu et.al (2012), 95 percent of the Sierra Leoneans, mainly youths and women are suffering from one or more mental health disorders, with depression, anxiety, stress, Post Traumatic Disorder, drug abuse and addiction being the most prevalent. Furthermore, a whooping 98 percent of these people does not have access to mental health care. This ie because, for a population of over 8 million people, Sierra Leone only has two psychiatrists, two Clinical Psychologists, and 19 Mental Health Nurses. Just four nurses have specialized in Child and Adolescent mental health (WHO, 2019). This shortage gap and low number of mental health professionals has led the to an increase in cost for mental health services, and inadequate access to mental health services in the country especially for people that can’t afford the available services. Thus, we are bringing emotions mobile application. This app is embedded with resources such as games, music, videos, and exercises tailored around solving depression, anxiety, stress, addiction and PTSD. This solution uses AI to deliver narrative therapy, PM+ management and CBT. It also connects mental health patients with certified mental health professionals accross Africa for online consultation and services.
